Special Lecture on Environmental and Climate Law
Justice Antonio Herman Benjamin, Chief Justice of Brazil, delivered a special lecture titled “Global Trends in Environmental Law and Climate Law” at the Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building. The Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University attended as chief guest. The Faculty of Law organized the lecture, which was attended by teachers and students from Dhaka University and other universities, lawyers, researchers, environmentalists, and representatives of various organizations.

Participation in Japan’s JVC Campus Symposium
The Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) of Dhaka University attended the Joint Virtual Campus (JVC) Symposium in Japan, hosted by Kobe University. Discussions focused on nurturing global talent, curriculum development, sharing educational and research experiences among ASEAN universities, and providing virtual class opportunities for Dhaka University students. Potential signing of an MoU with Kobe University and launching a joint PhD program were also discussed. The Pro-Vice Chancellor also attended Japan’s Ministry of Education-organized Global Network Program symposium to explore further international collaboration.

University Teaching and Learning Training
Dhaka University’s Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organized a 15-day training workshop titled “Training Program: Foundation Certificate in University Teaching and Learning.” The Vice-Chancellor attended the closing ceremony, presenting awards and certificates to 49 participating teachers from various departments.

Japan Foundation Indo-Pacific Fellowship Program
The Faculty of Social Sciences, Japan Foundation, and Pan-Asia Research Institute jointly organized the Japan Foundation Indo-Pacific Partnership Fellowship Program. Additionally, a mobile committee meeting was held at the Faculty office to improve the park fountain and food quality/cleanliness in the park’s food stalls.

Mental Health and Well-being Programs
The Department of Clinical Psychology organized a day-long Annual Stress Management & Well-being Program for faculty, students, and staff. Two workshops for MS 2023–2024 students titled “My Journey as a Psychologist” and “Exploring and Using Emotions” were also conducted in the Nasirullah Conference Hall.

Seminar on Higher Education in France
IQAC organized a seminar titled “Higher Studies in France by Campus France Bangladesh”. The French Ambassador in Bangladesh attended as chief guest, and the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) attended as special guest. The seminar was organized in collaboration with the International Center for Ocean Governance, Expertises France Group (AFD), and Campus France Bangladesh, assuring Bangladeshi students of full support for higher studies in France.

Strengthening Collaboration with Turkish Universities
Discussions were held with the Turkish Ambassador in Bangladesh regarding enhancing joint education and research, faculty/student exchange programs, reconstruction of Dhaka University’s central mosque complex with financial support from the Diyanet Foundation, and modernization of the Medical Center and various laboratories with technical and financial support from the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA). The ambassador also expressed interest in providing scholarships for Dhaka University students for higher education in Turkey.

International Women’s Day Celebration
The Applied Democracy Lab celebrated International Women’s Day under the theme “Accelerate Effective Measures for Women’s Empowerment.” Students from various departments showcased their social initiatives to prevent violence against women and children through interactive sessions. Forty students from 15 departments participated and issued a declaration advocating for the prevention of violence against women in a new Bangladesh.

International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction
The Department of Atmospheric Sciences observed International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction to raise awareness about preventable deaths. A rally was held from the administrative building courtyard, and a seminar titled “Disaster Early Warning: International Awareness Day for Preventable Deaths” was organized, featuring panel discussions on weather, public health, emergency response, and disaster risk management with participation from teachers, students, experts, and policymakers.

Workshop on LLMS Trends
The Institute of Information Technology organized a day-long workshop titled “LLMS in Industry and Academia: Current Trend”, hosted by the Distributed Systems and Software Engineering Research Group. Over 50 students from various departments and institutes participated.

Human Chain Against Violence on Women and Children
The Department of Criminology organized a human chain on the grounds of Aparajeya Bangla to raise awareness and advocate for the prevention of violence against women and children, ensuring safety and justice. Faculty, students, officers, and staff participated under the supervision of the department chairperson.
