Support for Students from Low or Lower-Middle Income Countries

The University of Dhaka extends its commitment to poverty alleviation and inclusive education beyond national borders, supporting students from low and lower-middle-income countries to access and complete higher education.

Targeted Scholarships and Grants

In 2024, the University of Dhaka provided scholarships and financial support to students from countries including Palestine and other low-income regions. These programs cover tuition fees and, in some cases, living expenses, ensuring that students facing financial hardship are not prevented from enrolling or continuing their studies due to economic constraints.

Housing and Food Support

International students residing in University-provided halls benefit from subsidized housing and affordable, high-quality meals. This ensures that their basic living costs are minimized, allowing them to focus on academic engagement and successful completion of their programs.

Holistic Welfare Measures

Beyond financial aid and accommodation, international students have access to:

  • Medical services at the University Medical Centre, including essential medicines
  • Counselling and academic support, similar to provisions for national students, to ensure well-being and academic success
  • Transportation support, enabling safe and cost-effective commuting when needed

These combined measures create a supportive environment in which international students from low and lower-middle-income countries can continue their studies without interruption and successfully graduate.

Outcome

Through targeted scholarships, grants, subsidized housing and food, and additional welfare support, the University of Dhaka demonstrates a strong commitment to enabling students from economically disadvantaged countries to access higher education and complete their degrees.
