Elected Representation on the University’s Highest Governing Body

Dhaka University ensures democratic participation in its Senate, the supreme authority of the University, through elected representation from faculty, students, and graduates. Out of 105 members:

  • 35 are elected teachers, chosen directly by peers through election.
  • 25 are elected registered graduates, including alumni and non-faculty professionals.
  • 5 are student representatives nominated by DUCSU.

The Senate also includes members from government, parliament, and affiliated colleges, ensuring diversity in governance. This structure demonstrates DU’s century-long commitment to participatory and accountable decision-making.
