Dhaka University upholds SDG-16 by ensuring transparent, accountable, and participatory governance across all its academic and administrative structures. The University Senate includes a large proportion of elected teachers, graduates, and DUCSU-nominated student representatives, reflecting strong democratic representation. DUCSU functions as an autonomous student body with its own constitution, elected leadership, and active participation in university governance. In 2024, DU strengthened stakeholder engagement through collaborations with ministries, city authorities, law-enforcement agencies, development partners, and civil society in events, conferences, policy dialogues, and cultural programs. Governance bodies such as the Senate, Syndicate, IQAC, and administrative offices incorporate external members and maintain structured channels for stakeholder feedback. DU maintains strict anti-corruption measures aligned with the National Integrity Strategy, APA, RTI Act, ethics committees, internal audits, and whistleblower protection. Academic freedom is safeguarded through autonomous research practices, IRBs, open scholarly discourse, and public student research activities. Financial transparency is ensured through annual audited reports, public budget disclosure, tender publications, and compliance with national procurement rules. DU’s academic experts also support national governance by advising government ministries, regulatory bodies, reform commissions, and policy institutions. Through these systems, Dhaka University demonstrates its deep commitment to peace, justice, and strong institutions under SDG-16.
