Total food waste (metric ton):
At present, the University of Dhaka does not maintain a centrally aggregated, campus-wide quantitative measurement of total food waste (in metric tons) generated by all catering services. Food preparation and waste management are decentralised across residential halls and campus canteens, where monitoring is conducted at the operational level. While daily observation and procurement-based assessments are in place, a consolidated metric-ton-based reporting mechanism is currently under development as part of ongoing improvements in resource management.
Campus population (FTE):
The University of Dhaka maintains official records of its full-time equivalent (FTE) student and employee population through administrative and academic offices. These data are used for institutional planning, service provision, and resource allocation. The large and diverse campus population is a key consideration in ongoing efforts to strengthen food management and waste reduction practices.
