Affordable housing for employees (2024)

University of Dhaka provides residential facilities for its teaching staff, administrative officers, and other employees through multiple residential buildings and flats managed under the Estate Office. These accommodations are intended to ensure affordable housing options for university employees, helping reduce commuting costs and improving staff welfare.

  • The University allocates flats for staff use, a total of around 918 flats, of which a portion is designated for teachers and the rest for officers and employees.
  • Applications for housing allocation are processed online via the Estate Office portal (estate.du.ac.bd), ensuring transparency and access for eligible staff.
  • Annual rental charges for assigned flats are deducted from employee salaries according to approved rates. Certain accommodations are offered at reduced rent, sometimes as low as half of the basic rate, while some may be provided at even lower cost depending on the category of staff.

These housing arrangements form part of the University’s broader policy to support employee welfare, reduce commuting burden, and ensure that housing is accessible and affordable.
