Collaborates with local authorities to address campus planning, infrastructure development, and community engagement

University of Dhaka actively collaborates with local authorities to address campus planning, infrastructure development, and community engagement. Key initiatives include:

  • Coordination with Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) on traffic management, pedestrian access, and green space planning around the central campus, ensuring safe and efficient movement for both campus users and local residents.
  • Inclusive housing planning: University’s Estate Office works closely with local authorities to ensure faculty, staff and student accommodations meet affordability and accessibility standards.
  • Infrastructure and urban development alignment: New projects, new buildings, pedestrian pathways, and bicycle-friendly zones are designed in consultation with municipal planning authorities to integrate with surrounding urban planning.
  • Public engagement: Local residents are regularly consulted through notices, community meetings, and feedback mechanisms regarding major construction or development projects on campus.
  • Environmental and heritage considerations: University collaborates with local agencies to preserve green spaces, cultural heritage sites, and open plazas while implementing new development projects, ensuring that campus growth does not compromise public access or heritage value.

This collaborative approach ensures harmonized urban planning, promotes sustainable development, and maintains equitable access to university facilities for both campus stakeholders and local residents.
