DU runs childcare centres serving both students and staff:
- Day-care centres at Institute of Education and Research (IER) and Faculty of Business Studies (FBS).
- Earlier centre “Chaya Neer” at Social Science Faculty is documented as serving the children of faculty members and staff. Daily Observer+1
These centres:
- Operate during working/teaching hours (e.g., 9:30–17:00, Sun–Thu). The Asian Age
- Provide safe, supervised care enabling women to attend classes, teach, and participate in research without career interruption.
- Have trained caregivers and are gradually being expanded as demand grows.
The University is committed to taking the following steps to further strengthen and expand these facilities:
- Establishing and expanding accessible and quality childcare centres on campus for both students and staff.
- Aligning childcare centre schedules with class and examination timetables to meet students’ needs.
- Providing subsidized or affordable childcare services for economically disadvantaged student mothers.
- Employing trained caregivers and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and child-friendly environment.
- Regularly improving the quality of services based on feedback from student parents.
