Childcare facilities for staff and faculty

The University of Dhaka recognizes that balancing professional responsibilities and childcare can often be challenging for faculty members and staff. To ensure their well-being, productivity, and continued participation in university activities, the University is committed to providing accessible, safe, and high-quality childcare facilities on campus.

In line with this commitment, two childcare centres have already been established — one at the Institute of Education and Research (IER) and another at the Faculty of Business Studies (FBS).

Through these facilities, the University aims to ensure that:

  1. Children are cared for in a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment.
  2. Operating hours of the childcare facilities align with faculty and staff work schedules.
  3. Qualified and trained caregivers are appointed to maintain quality standards of care.
  4. Affordable or subsidized services are provided, particularly for financially disadvantaged staff.
  5. Inclusive and child-friendly environments are maintained that respect diversity and the varying needs of families.
  6. Regular quality improvement measures are implemented based on user feedback.

Through these initiatives, the University of Dhaka reaffirms its commitment to promoting work–life balance, gender equality, and a healthy working environment for all faculty members and staff—ensuring that parental responsibilities, whether motherhood or fatherhood, do not hinder their professional growth or participation in academic and administrative activities.  https://dailyasianage.com/news/193612/day-care-centre-launched-at-du?
